"But the person who eats the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to the Lord , IN HIS UNCLEANNESS, that person shall be cut off from his people.
When anyone touches anything unclean...
Any unclean detestable thing,
AND eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to the Lord, that person shall be cut off from his people.'"
(Leviticus 7:20-21)
The person who 'partakes of' Christ (God's peace offering), while remaining in 'unclean' habits of living, voluntarily continuing to 'touch' things that are distasteful to the Lord, IS (whether he knows it or not) 'cut off' from the Lord. That one has NOT become a 'new creation' and is NOT numbered as an allegiant citizen in the kingdom of Christ,  the universal church God calls 'His bride'.
"So when he came into the world, he said, “ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire , but a body you prepared for me."
(Hebrews 10:5)
"And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified."
(Hebrews 10:11-14 ESV)
"The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.   He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him."
(John 1:9-10, 14, 18)
Christ IS the only holy 'peace offering' that will purchase forgiveness and peace with God. WE are the earthen vessel 'being sanctified' IN which that offering must be prepared. If we are not a 'scoured' vessel, the sacrifice does NOT benefit.
"If any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offering is eaten on the third day, he who offers it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be credited to him. It is tainted, and he who eats of it shall bear his iniquity."
(Leviticus 7:18 ESV)
"...He Himself is our peace... by abolishing in His flesh the enmity... so that in Himself He might make... one new man, thus establishing peace... through the cross..."
( Ephesians 2:14-16 )
"THIS is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.  I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."
( John 6:50-51 )
"If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance–it is impossible to bring them back to repentance, FOR AS LONG AS they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh as far as they are concerned and ARE holding Him up to contempt and shame and public disgrace."
( Hebrews 6:6 AMP)
"Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray also for one another, that you may be healed and restored to a spiritual tone of mind and heart. The earnest and heartfelt prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available.
Brethren, if anyone among you strays from the Truth and falls into error and another person brings him back... whoever turns a sinner from his evil course will save that one's soul from death and will procure the pardon of the many sins committed by the convert."
( James 5:16, 19-20 )
"So it shall be when he becomes guilty... that he shall confess that in which he has sinned."
(Leviticus 5:5)
"If we freely admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He... will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
( 1 John 1:9 )
"YOU are ...a royal priesthood... God's own purchased, special people,
THAT you may... display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
...Abstain from the sensual urges that wage war against the soul.
Conduct yourselves honorably and righteously... so that, although they may slander you ...yet they may by witnessing your good deeds come to glorify God in the day of inspection
Be submissive to every human institution and authority for the sake of the Lord...
For it is God's will and intention that by doing right, your good and honest lives should silence the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons.
Live as free people, yet without employing your freedom as a pretext for wickedness; but live at all times as servants of God."
( 1 Peter 2:9-16 AMP)
"This is the law of the sin offering... it is most holy.
The priest who offers it for sin shall EAT it. It shall be EATEN IN A HOLY PLACE...
Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated...
Also the earthenware vessel in which it was boiled shall be broken; and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then it shall be scoured and rinsed in water."
(Leviticus 6:25-28)
This 'earthen vessel', our flesh, MUST be 'broken', contrite, and 'scoured' from all impurities for the Light to make His residence within us.
John was sent to 'prepare the way of the Lord'. That preparation WAS repentance.
When Jesus appeared on the scene His  message was still, REPENT.
Christ's message continued with a call to voluntarily lay aside and devalue one's personal rights and possessions and even one's own life to 'follow Me'.
True love for God looks like THIS... like the example of Christ.
Those who live according to ideologies based on sense and fairness and logic... who compromise God's word in order to run from pain and injustice DO NOT have the Light dwelling in them... no matter what belief they claim to espouse. Not until confession and repentance can Christ work peace between them and God. A claim to justification while unrepentant is a false claim. Unconfessed sin remains as a barrier preventing prayer from reaching the throne of Grace.
"Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear."
( Isaiah 59:2 ESV)
It is true. If the Author of our faith quoted Isaiah to validate Himself, then the truths within Isaiah ring true even today.
God DOES NOT hear you when you stubbornly refuse to confess, repent,  yield ALL,  and become a 'new man'.
"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people."
(2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV)
Are YOU one of those to be avoided?
"For God Who said,
'Let light shine out of darkness,'
Has shone in our hearts so as to beam forth the Light for the illumination of the knowledge... of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
However, we possess this precious treasure in vessels of earth...
We are hedged in on every side,
But not cramped or crushed;
We suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out,
But not driven to despair;
We are pursued and hard driven,
But not deserted to stand alone;
We are struck down to the ground,
But never struck out and destroyed;
Always carrying about in the body... the exposure to the same putting to death that the Lord Jesus suffered,
SO THAT the life of Jesus also may be shown forth by and in our bodies."
(2 Corinthians 4:6-10)
"Stripes that wound scour away evil, And strokes reach the innermost parts."
(Proverbs 20:30)
Those who are seeking a 'Christianity' of relaxation, freedom, happiness, and prosperity are deceived.
The true parallel to these pursuits in a genuine Christian is complete submission and yieldedness in every habit, a coming under the 'yoke' of Christ, joy that is a by product of being possessed by the Spirit of God, and 'laying up treasure in heaven' by letting everything go.
"But as God’s servants, we have commended ourselves in every way, With great endurance..
By purity,
By knowledge,
By patience,
By benevolence,
By the Holy Spirit,
By genuine love,
By truthful teaching,
By the power of God,
With weapons of righteousness...
Through glory and dishonor,
Through slander and praise;
Regarded as impostors, and yet true...
As those who are scourged
As sorrowful, but always rejoicing,
As poor, but making many rich,
As having nothing, and yet possessing everything."
( 2 Corinthians 6:4-10 )
"It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons...
He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
THEREFORE, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet...
Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.
See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears."
(Hebrews 12:7-17)
In all our profuse conversations concerning the grace of God, does anyone talk of coming short of it?
Does anyone realize that, when they stand before the Lord of heaven,  they may find their vessel empty of grace because they apathetically continued to lightly regard their 'birthright' evidenced by their continuation in thought patterns and habits that defiled their lives?
"I sought the Lord and required Him of necessity... and He heard me...
They looked to Him and were radiant; their faces shall never blush for shame or be confused...
The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and each of them He delivers...
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you to revere and worshipfully fear the Lord. What man is he who desires life and longs for many days, that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.
Depart from evil and do good;
Seek, inquire for, and crave peace and go after it!
The eyes of the Lord are toward the uncompromisingly righteous and His ears are open to their cry...
The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent..."
(Psalm 34:4-19)
"Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart...
For You delight not in sacrifice, or else would I give it; You find no pleasure in burnt offering.
My sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise."
(Psalm 51:6, 15-17 AMP)
"But to those who are called... Christ IS the Power of God and the Wisdom of God. But it is from Him that you have your life..."
(1 Corinthians 1:24, 30-31)
"Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom (God himself) in my inmost heart."
(Psalm 51:6)
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 NET
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing,  among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.
"Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
If you had known Me [had learned to recognize Me], you would also have known My Father. From now on, you know Him and have seen Him... Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me..."
(John 14:6-7, 11)
"But what does it say? “ The word is near you , in your mouth and IN your heart, ” because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus IS Lord (Jehovah or Yaweh, see below) and believe in your heart that God (the Glory) raised him from the dead, you will be saved...
FOR everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jehovah or Yaweh: quote from Joel)
will be saved."
(Romans 10:8-9, 13)
A quote from Joel 2:27, 32...
"You will be convinced that I am in the midst of Israel. I am the Lord your God; there is no other. My people will never again be put to shame... It will so happen that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be delivered..."
"A voice of one who cries:
'Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord... a highway for our God!'
And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it."
(Isaiah 40:3, 5)
"God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – in heaven and on earth and under the earth –  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ IS Lord to the glory of God the Father."
(Philippians 2:9-11)
"By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses Jesus as THE Christ who has come in the flesh is from God..."
(1 John 4:2)
"He said to them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered,
“You are the Christ, the Son (begotten flesh, the temple, of the seven-fold Spirit: see Rev. 5:7) of the living God.”
And Jesus answered him,
“You are blessed, Simon ... because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!"
(Matthew 16:15-18 NET)
"...Who though he existed in the form of God  did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped."
(Philippians 2:6 NET)
"Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be content.”   Jesus replied, “Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Believe me that... the Father is in me..."
( John 14:8-9, 11 )
"Then he said to Thomas.. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.”   Thomas replied to him, “My Lord and my God!”
( John 20:27-28 )
"And who am I that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?
And Mary said,
“My soul exalts the Lord,  and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Savior." (Luke 1:43, 46-47 )
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord GOD – the one who is, and who was, and who is still to come – the All-Powerful!
...When I saw HIM I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,  and the one who lives! I WAS DEAD, but look, now I am alive – forever and ever – and I hold the keys of death and of Hades!" (Revelation 1:8, 17-18)
"...I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life.  The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his GOD and he will be my son."
(Revelation 21:6-7)
"For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...
Know Me, believe Me and remain steadfast to Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior."
(Isaiah 43:3, 10-11)
"...You shall recognize and know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer..."
(Isaiah 60:16)
"And there was handed to Him the book of the prophet Isaiah.
He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
'The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed, To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord.'
[Isa. 61:1, 2.]
Then He rolled up the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing at Him. And He began to speak to them: Today this Scripture has been fulfilled while you are present and hearing."
(Luke 4:17-21)
"For the day of vengeance was in My heart, and My year of redemption has come. And I looked, but there was no one to help... So My own arm brought Me victory..."
(Isaiah 63:4-5)
"...If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.
Then they said to Him, Who are You anyway? Jesus replied, [Why do I even speak to you!] I am exactly what I have been telling you from the first."
(John 8:24-25)
Revelation 22:13 - “I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”... 22:16 - “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches.”
